Genetic Counsellor

Every genetic report tells a story but it takes the right professional to translate complex science into meaningful guidance. As a Genetic Counsellor, you’ll support individuals and families through their genetic healthcare journey by providing accurate risk assessment, compassionate counselling, and clear interpretation of genomic information.

Job Essence

The role focuses on providing pre- and post-test genetic counselling, evaluating family and medical histories, assessing inherited disease risks, interpreting genetic test reports, and helping patients make informed healthcare decisions. The role requires a combination of scientific expertise, clinical knowledge, strong communication skills, and empathy to deliver patient-centric care.

Key Requirements

  • M.Sc. in Genetic Counselling / Human Genetics (Mandatory)
  • Pre & Post-Test Genetic Counselling
  • Clinical Risk Assessment & Family History Analysis
  • Genetic Test Selection & Interpretation
  • Genomic Report Interpretation
  • Knowledge of Medical Genetics & Inherited Disorders
  • Patient Education & Communication Skills
  • Ability to explain complex genetic concepts in simple language
  • Clinical documentation & case management
  • Ethical, legal & confidentiality compliance in genetic counselling
  • Collaboration with clinicians, laboratories & multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong analytical thinking and empathetic counselling approach
  • Freshers with clinical internships & experienced professionals are welcome
